Ich bin Autodidakt und male seit meiner Jugend, mittlerweile seit \u00fcber 30 Jahren. Meine k\u00fcnstlerische Reise begann zun\u00e4chst im Bereich des fantastischen Realismus. Sp\u00e4ter befreite ich mich von der genauen Detailarbeit und begann, abstrakte Werke auf gro\u00dfen Formaten mit den H\u00e4nden zu malen.<\/p>\n

In den letzten Jahren habe ich eine Verschmelzung von abstrakter und darstellender Kunst erlebt. Dabei arbeitete ich sowohl mit den H\u00e4nden, also ohne weitere Hilfsmittel, als auch mit Pinsel und Airbrush-Technik.<\/p>\n

Beim Malen mit den H\u00e4nden bemerkte ich, dass ein Prozess des reinen Flie\u00dfens einsetzt. Ab diesem Moment bestimme ich nicht mehr bewusst, was ich malen m\u00f6chte \u2013 es geschieht von selbst.<\/p>\n

Derzeit hat mich die Malerei von detaillierten, darstellenden Bildern wieder gefangen genommen. Dabei verwende ich bevorzugt Acrylfarben.<\/p>\n

Ich orientiere mich bei meiner Arbeit nicht an \u201eModerichtungen\u201c, sondern lasse mich von meiner eigenen Inspiration leiten. Vor allem die Natur mit ihren fantastischen Formen und Farben, aber auch Filme, Fotos oder Bilder, die ich sehe, beeinflussen meine Kunst.<\/p>\n

Die Wahrnehmung ist eine Projektion des Inneren. So w\u00e4re die Malerei Manfreds ein „In sich Gehen“ um so die psychophysiologischen Prozesse, welche durch unbewusste, oder bewusste Wahrnehmung ausgel\u00f6st werden, nach au\u00dfen zu tragen.
So will ich das auch sehen, n\u00e4mlich dass diese zunehmend dichter gemalten Arbeiten ein Versuch sind, sowohl die emotionale Innenwelt als reactio auf die mit hinein gebrachten emotionalen Au\u00dfenwelteinfl\u00fcsse gleichzeitig abzubilden und sp\u00fcrbar zu machen, dabei aber weit davon entfernt, wirklich lesbar zu sein.<\/p>\n

Man braucht Lebenskraft, um eine k\u00fcnstlerische Arbeit zu bew\u00e4ltigen. Und nat\u00fcrlich ist man versucht, Manfred Walters Malerei einzig unter dem eben formulierten Aspekt zu betrachten.
Sprechen wir aber einmal zu seinen Arbeiten \u00fcber das Wachsen, das Sich-Entwickeln, und sprechen wir \u00fcber das Verk\u00fcmmern, das Wieder-zur\u00fcck-Wollen. Sprechen wir \u00fcber das Unab\u00e4nderliche, das uns durch Geburt und Tod den Weg verstellt.<\/p>\n

Sprechen wir dar\u00fcber, dass Manfred Walter in seinen Bildern das Ank\u00e4mpfen gegen psychischen und physischen Verfall, den Verlauf jeden Lebens als Verlauf von Geburt, Wachsen, Hochzeit, Vergehen und Tod abzubilden, herauszuarbeiten sucht, dieses Unab\u00e4nderliche also.<\/p>\n

In der ihm eigenen Beherrschtheit verzichtet er auf den Ausweg, die unab\u00e4nderliche Diskrepanz zwischen allem Irdischen und Kosmischen und der Transzendenz plakativ, unmittelbar darzustellen, quasi an den Betrachter eins zu eins weiterzugeben.<\/p>\n

Vielmehr malt er sich bis in das Auge des Sturms, jenen Bereich, in dem sich die Kr\u00e4fte aufheben, das Absolute, der Kosmos, Gott \u2013 jedenfalls alles gleichzeitig gedacht oder ersp\u00fcrt werden kann.<\/p>\n

Zwischen Aufschwung und Niedergang gibt es nur wenige Augenblicke der Ruhe – und eben diese, mit der Gef\u00e4hrdung ihres Gleichgewichts k\u00f6nnen also genauso zentral als Thema beschrieben und begr\u00fcndet werden.<\/p>\n

Wenn dieser Bogen der Vanitas in eine Formel zu fassen w\u00e4re, w\u00fcrde sie sicherlich lauten:
Material – Abfall = Produkt, und dann w\u00e4re der Abfall das, was jeder Mensch an Jahren nutzlos und als Ballast mit sich tr\u00e4gt.
Das Vergessene wie das Erinnerte, das wir nicht ver\u00e4ndern konnten, – das, was gewiss unab\u00e4nderlich gewesen ist.<\/p>\n

Das Unab\u00e4nderliche, soweit wir uns ihm gegen\u00fcberstellen, ist allerdings die conditio sine qua non des Menschseins. Als etwas, das beschlossen war und scheint, m\u00fcssen wir als reflektierende Wesen uns jedenfalls das Unab\u00e4nderliche als ein Hermetisches vorstellen, als das Verschlossene.<\/p>\n

Unbedingt steht fest: Dieses werden wir nie \u00f6ffnen k\u00f6nnen. Dieses m\u00fcssen wir unbedingt aufbrechen wollen. Manfred Walter geht zur Sichtbarmachung dieses Imperatives in seiner Malerei den umgekehrten Weg: Er macht eine offene wei\u00dfe Fl\u00e4che nach und nach hermetisch, aber auf eine unglaublich luftige Art und Weise.<\/p>\n

W\u00fcrden wir das Werk Manfred Walters sehen, so w\u00fcrden wir bei einem Teil seiner Arbeiten eindeutig den Naturalisten erkennen. Selten sieht man Steine auf solch naturnahe Art gemalt. In ihrem naturhaften Realismus wirken sie so perfekt, dass es scheint, als fielen sie im n\u00e4chsten Augenblick aus dem Bild heraus. Auch dort, wo er nur die Strukturen des Steines wiedergibt, sp\u00fcrt man gewisserma\u00dfen die Oberfl\u00e4che geradezu haptisch.<\/p>\n

Dies trifft aber nur f\u00fcr einen Teil seines Werkes zu, ein anderer Teil wirkt dagegen ganz anders, wirkt spontan, informell, sinnlich und passt in seiner ganzen Anlage eher in den subjektiven Bereich, denn wenn man versucht, hier auf ein Objekt zu sto\u00dfen, verliert man sich leicht in der Welt der eigenen Phantasie.

Die Arbeiten des Malers beeindrucken durch eine fast philosophische Abstraktion, gepaart mit mehr als beeindruckenden fotorealistischen Elementen. Und in diesem speziellen Falle gilt: Sie kommen um eine direkte Gegen\u00fcberstellung Betrachter <> Gem\u00e4lde einfach nicht herum! Anders kann ich Ihnen\u00a0folgendes nicht beweisen:\u00a0den Satz „die Abbildung sieht aus, als k\u00f6nnte man sie greifen“ habe ich als Galerist schon des \u00f6fteren geh\u00f6rt und gehe eigentlich\u00a0fast nie dacor. \u00a0Aber in diesem Fall kann ich nur berichten was ich selber erlebt habe: Ich stand ca. 1m vor dem Gem\u00e4lde „Bent Stalks“ und konnte trotz sehr genauen Schauens nicht ausmachen, ob die gelben Linien gemalt oder in Form einer Kordel oder \u00e4hnlichem auf die Leinwand aufgebracht war!<\/p>\n
